Important Changes for FY2011
Earlier this year, Georgia Council for the Arts informed clients and colleagues about proposed decreases to the agency's budget. Despite an unfavorable outlook for the next fiscal year, GCA remains firmly committed to our clients and the state's valuable nonprofit arts industry.
Given the Governor’s proposal, we have had to quickly enact changes that ensure that the agency can weather these times without reducing contracts in FY2010 or the projected amount of money available for grants in FY2011. In all cases, these were difficult decisions at best, regretfully necessary at worst.
Staff and Program Changes
It is with great regret that GCA will no longer be able to offer funding through the Traditional Arts program. Brandy Klopp, Traditional Arts Program Manager, has been a significant and vital part of the GCA staff. With the loss of her position we lose not only the expertise and support of a champion for the traditional arts, but also the means to adjudicate and manage applications and contracts in this program area.
We have also reduced our administrative staff, eliminating the Administrative Director position. Hilda Green has served in this role for more than five years and in doing so has kept the administrative services of GCA running smoothly. She has served as our liaison with many other state agencies and found answers by working with the state’s bureaucracy. She will be sorely missed.
