Strategic Plan Forums

Join the conversation as Georgia Council for the Arts seeks input on developing a new strategic plan that will outline our direction, goals and growth over the next five years.  Representatives of the arts community, as well as anyone with an interest in the arts, are invited to attend any of several community forums held throughout the state. The agenda is available for preview.

• Atlanta, Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, October 31
• Columbus, Springer Opera House Theatre, December 7
• Macon, Museum of Arts & Sciences, January 10
• Tifton, Georgia Museum of Agriculture, January 11
• Augusta, Morris Museum of Art, February 7
• Gainesville, The Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center, February 9
• Savannah, Department of Cultural Affairs, February 24 (Directions)

The purpose of the process is to produce a strategic plan with input from all of the Council’s stakeholders in every portion of the state. The feedback collected will produce a plan that clearly defines priorities and charts the course for the role of the arts in Georgia’s future including tourism, education and job growth. Governor Deal opened the kick-off forum in Atlanta by presenting his thoughts on the importance of the arts to Georgia’s economic vitality; Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson, Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver and Gainesville Mayor Daniel Dunagan opened the forums in their respective cities by stressing the significance of the arts on local communities.

In order to ensure space availability for all participants, please RSVP your / your organization's intent to attend (include forum city, organization name and number attending) to  GCA Strategic Plan.
