Grants
GCA offers grants in three programming areas: Arts Services, Community Arts, and Traditional Arts. Arts Education support is currently funded through Operating Support Grants under both Arts Services and Community Arts. Due to the large reduction in state funding, each applicant is restricted to one application, except for the Grassroots Arts Program Partners.
- Arts Services grants are for single-discipline, nonprofit arts organizations that are dedicated to the production or presentation of artworks, enriching the cultural environment of their community.
- Community Arts grants are for multi-discipline, nonprofit arts organizations that help to grow the cohesiveness, arts access, and identity of their communities.
- Traditional Arts grants are for traditional artists and arts organizations for preserving the oral, material, and performance traditions of indigenous and immigrant populations of the state.
- Grassroots Arts Program (GAP) is a decentralized funding program created by the Georgia General Assembly to ensure that every county in the state has access to state support for arts programs, including small, traditionally underserved communities. Administered by a network of GCA-appointed GAP Partners, competitive awards are given through an application process.
GCA also offers the Georgia Artists Initiative (GAI), an adjudicated listing of qualified artists and arts consultants for hire. There is no direct monetary award associated with inclusion in any one of the five rosters included in the GAI (Teaching Artists, Touring Artists, Traditional Artists, Teacher-Professional-Learning organizations, and Arts Education Consultants). GCA promotes and markets the GAI to schools, arts organizations, presenters, and the private sector, which may be in need of commissioned work.
